![]() El Jefe might benefit from looking into that if they haven't already. The other lounges also benefit from permits that allow them to serve food and beverages on site so you can enjoy a coffee or muffin while you hang out with the cats. ![]() The parents looked at us and said, "we have cats at home" which made me really nervous.Įl Jefe may benefit from looking at the rules and procedures at other lounges like Purringtons that has one staff member in the room with the cats at all times as well as policies against approaching cats until the cats approach you and other tips for success. Parents were on hand but were doing nothing to stop the child abuse (and when I say child abuse I mean abuse perpetuated by children). When we visited, there was a family with four small children under the age of ten chasing cats, swatting at cats, pushing cat toys in feline faces. There is someone available to check you in but no one is staffing the lounge itself. The main problem with the Lounge is the lack of staff. Almost as much fun as a laser pointer moving across the floor. Cats can hang out in their penthouses or roll up into a cat nest on the floor or watch a 60" TV broadcasting videos of fish and other things to lock their interest. There is plenty of soft seating both for the cats and the people that love them. The first amazing thing is how much space these cats have to roam: three floors! This made it possible for 23 cats to co-exist without sending out death stares to one another. As a tourist, even if you aren't in the market to adopt a cat it can be a cool activity just to help these cats habituate a little more to humans or watch them paw around. All these cat lounges do amazing work giving felines a second chance at a Forever Home by placing them in an environment where they are cared for and have the opportunity to meet a potential cat guardian in a space without cages. It's hard to share my experience at El Jefe without thinking of these other spaces. I have visited cat lounges in Portland, San Francisco and Oakland. Truth be told, this is my fourth cat lounge visit in three different states. Definitely recommended if you're in NW Tucson! Another drawback is that during normal school time, AZ Air Time doesn't open until 12pm, which is kind of sad for families with preschool-age children who'd like to use the location in the mornings. The staff is friendly, and they seem to go out of their way for those that are physically impaired to enjoy the facilities too. ![]() It's simply too pricey to pay at the door for just a few hours of playing. I give this place 4/5 simply because we couldn't come here without the Groupons that come up occasionally for it. My favorites are the climbing wall (open periodically) and that there are tables in the middle of everything for parents to sit and keep an eye on multiple people all around the room. Their favorites are the ages 4 and under area (for the really wee ones, so the big kids don't hurt them) and the foam pit (to jump into). They started going when it opened a few years ago, and at 5 and 7 now, they STILL love it.
